It felt like ages since I'd last seen him.
At the station, as we headed back to our respective offices, I rose on tiptoe to kiss his cheek good-bye. I was full of affection for him and his good sense.
As I moved towards him, he turned to say something, and the kiss landed awkwardly but square on his lips. We sprang apart and looked at each other. I could feel my head tilted enquiringly, like a bird's.
An embarrassed cough; then we both hurried off in deliberately opposite directions.
He tasted faintly of smoke and coffee... and a wondering about tomorrow.

Snow!
I'm still a child with snow. Strangely enough the sky in front was blue, the clouds edged with gold from the westerly sun.
Can you get snowbows?

Unexpectedly, he dived under a shelf, his t-shirt riding up to expose his back. I really didn't know whether to stare or self conciously examine my fingernails.
Instead, I imagined lying back on the dunes, sipping a pina colada. I closed my eyes and felt the warm tropical sea.
I jumped about a foot in the air as he brushed my foot and looked up at me.
