Dear ...,
Sheer embarrassment means that I am picking a moment when we won't see each other for a few weeks to tackle an impossible subject. Hopefully there will be enough time for us both to forget anything I shouldn't have said.
Up until now, I've tried to pretend I am oblivious to the powerful attraction between us, but right now I need to tell you what I feel before I do or say something that crosses a line and embarrasses us both. I'd rather it was understood and accepted between us rather than suddenly finding ourselves in an uncontrolled emotional crisis. Basically, I don't want to make either of us unhappy.
I really don't want it to make a difference to the way we work. I'd prefer to go back to complete denial on a day-to-day basis if it's possible. However, I'll totally understand if I've just managed to make you very uncomfortable about working together and if so I'll do my utmost to ensure you get the support you need from other people.
How do I end an email like this? Sorry? Thank you? Well, I'm just hoping you'll understand why I needed to say it.
